Hi! I'm Yasmin, I'm nineteen, and I'm a vocal coach for The Music Yard. I currently study English with Creative Writing at Queen's University. Music has been a huge passion of mine for my whole life, and I started taking vocal lessons at the age of 11.
I'm classically trained however my passion lies in Musical Theatre, reflected through obtaining a Distinction in Grade 8 under the board LCM and going on to complete my Diploma afterwards.
Musical performance has been a massive part of my life- I have entered and placed in many music festivals over the years, most notably being in 2018 where I achieved the Most Pleasing Performance award at both Ballyclare and Larne festival.
Throughout my years at school, I sang for the chamber choir and choral group, and achieved an Honours blazer for my contribution to music. My love for drama also led me to play two leading roles in school musicals: Adelaide in 'Calamity Jane' and Marty in 'Grease'.
Outside of school, I trained with Belfast School of Performing Arts where I was fortunate enough to play the leading role of Carmen in Fame and sing a rendition of 'The Wizard and I' from Wicked on the Grand Opera House stage. I've also performed in many other shows, including Beauty and the Beast, Singin' in the Rain, Les Miserables and Footloose.
I've been working at The Music Yard since February 2017 and since then it has been a pleasure to enter pupils into musical theatre exams, see them perform on stage with the band and most importantly just to watch their confidence grow! If you're ever looking to belt a showtune, you know where to find me!
